Slowly, but Surely
Life feels slow, even when it's not.
I keep saying life is slow, but that’s not true.
Definitely not in a work sense, that’s been decently steady. Already I’ve been sick (which is its own oddity, as it’s been probably five years since the last show-stopping illness), had a death in the family, and made some progress toward a few personal projects. But I can’t shake this feeling of slowness. Maybe it’s just the winter affecting me, but whatever it is, it has sunk its talons in deep.
The recent, large winter weather event (at least by Arkansas standards) is a perfect metaphor for how this year has been. With the ice finally in its last stages of thaw, maybe some warmer and brighter days are soon to come, though I’m reminded we remain in the middle of winter.
Today, I made sure to get up to the farm and walk around a bit, taking my hefty GFX around to mess with a new-ish lens that I have failed to put through its paces. The lake is taking its time to loosen its icy stillness. The ground is saturated. There is texture everywhere.
Not much in the way of words this week, but I’ll leave you with a few photos.
